Vanessa kiss

Vanessa Kiss is a self-taught artist originally from Montreal. She has a unique style best described as naïve art, and has been influenced by artists such as Henry Darger, Matt Leiness, and Marcel Dzama. She works with 0.2mm - 0.5mm pencils and dye-based alcohol ink to ensure precise details and rich color saturation. Her work has been featured on various album covers, concert posters, and publications.

For more than a decade, Vanessa owned Café Pi in Montreal, where she was known for booking unconventional exhibitions and promoting Montreal based-artists. At the same time, this environment, the cold Montreal winter, and her late schedule provided an ideal context for refining her own artistic skills and vision. In 2013, she left Montreal to travel in Greenland and Iceland, which inspired her Iceberg Collection. She later spent time in Tucson, Arizona, to thaw out before moving to Vancouver, British Columbia, where the rain, mountains, and sea inspire her new drawings.

For Vanessa, art brings calmness and happiness; every tiny line represents a second or a minute in life that needs to be appreciated.
